An engaging and interactive workshop on building high performance teams was hosted by HBA Mainline Montco at the Blue Bell Country Club on 13 June. The participants had an opportunity to network and eat dinner in a relaxed environment. Victoria Tamarkin, president, HBA Mainline Montco, kicked off the event. Over dinner, the speakers Jacinta Calverley, Sondra Leibner and Sarah Rawes engaged the participants with breakout sessions and interactive discussions that provided effective strategies to build effective teams.
Trust is the foundation and the five qualities of winning teams are:
- Clear expectations
- Understanding work styles and preferences of team members
- Shared commitments
- Authenticity – open, honest and direct
It is important to see things from another person’s point of view. Consider other people’s preferences to see what works for them.
On the other hand, the qualities of a winning team member are that one should work with the rest of the team that is in place. Different people have different qualities and we must work together to achieve the goal.
Actions to work with the teams you are given:
- Ensure diversity and inclusion
- Establish norms
- Empower the team
- Create accountability
It was a very engaging, stimulating and interactive event.
