HBA Chicago-Northern Suburbs is pleased to announce our December 2019 Volunteers of the Month are Karen Murray, Norma Thorelli, Ruth Martin, Jan Eilert and Patty Jassak.
We asked our Volunteers of the Month to share their experiences as HBA volunteers, read below to see what they had to say.
"I’ve been a volunteer with the HBA for six years and am very proud to have been part of the team to establish the Women in Transition affinity group in the Midwest region. As with all of my HBA volunteer experience, I was able to expand my skills in new areas. I also expanded my network by meeting and working with a great group of fellow HBA volunteers. I’ve enjoyed working with them over the past several months and hope to continue learning from them as we grow and develop the Region’s newest affinity group."
"I am delighted to be volunteering with the extraordinary group of women, Women in Transition, that received the Volunteer of the Month recognition. Becoming an HBA member and volunteer gave me the opportunity to connect and understand the HBA as an organization. I have found support, a place to share values and an immense range of opportunities to grow professionally and personally. The HBA is an amazing community that embraces multiple perspectives and that at its core lives the commitment to empower women at work to shape a better place for all of us. Thank you."
"I’m honored to be recognized as Volunteer of the Month for HBA Chicago – Northern Suburbs. I have been a part of the HBA for more than a decade and have gotten so much out of the organization; the learnings, the connections, the friendships, the confidence. It has been my pleasure to work with Jan, Patty, Karen and Norma in launching our new Women in Transition affinity group. I’m always inspired by how everyone goes beyond my expectations in order to make something truly great. Volunteering with the HBA allows us to follow our passions, as we strive to make the world a more equitable place. And have fun along the way. Thank you, HBA for what you have given me."
"I am truly honored and humbled to receive the volunteer of the month award. The HBA is like my extended family. I feel that I am part of a sisterhood of powerful and resourceful individuals. I initially volunteered because I wanted to maximize my experience and pay forward. The friendships and experience that I have gained are a blessing to me that I believe will benefit me and carry me forward."
